About the Scholarship:
This scholarship aims to empower lactation educators who are committed to serving the underserved populations in Ventura County. We recognize the importance of breastfeeding support, especially in communities where access to resources may be limited. By investing in lactation education, we aim to improve the health and well-being of mothers and infants across our county.

Criteria for Eligibility:
To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Reside or work in Ventura County.
2. Demonstrate a commitment to serving underserved populations, including but not limited to low-income families, communities of color, immigrant populations, and others facing barriers to breastfeeding support.
3. Must not have received a lactation scholarship from BCVC or First 5 Ventura County.
4. The selected candidate needs to show proof of completion of an approved certification as a lactation counselor (CLC, CLE, CLEC) or proof of successful completion of the IBCLC exam in order to receive the scholarship.

Scholarship Benefits:
The selected candidates will receive:

• Scholarships awarded to Lactation Educators will be in the amount of $250 after proof of course completion.
• Scholarship awarded to IBCLC for exam reimbursement will be in the amount of $1000 after proof of exam completion.

How to Apply:
To apply for the lactation scholarship, please submit the following documents:

• Completed application must be received by May 31, 2024.
• Documentation of completed exam within the past 12 months. IBCLC completed exam documentation must be received by July 15, 2024.
• A personal statement (maximum 500 words) explaining your commitment to serving underserved populations and promoting breastfeeding within Ventura County.
