Playwriting Workshop

This is a 2-day seminar presented by Vale Prosper and facilitated by Dr. John Patrick Bray.

Class Fee for 2 Days: $50

Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18 

2 pm to 5 pm     (3 hrs per day for 2 days) 

Thursday, July 20 at 7 pm: Public Presentation of Short Scenes written by the playwrights in the workshop (FREE, Rated: PG-13)

PLEASE BRING A NOTEBOOK OR LAPTOP.

Objective: To introduce participants to writing a fully-realized short play or scene that is theatrical and active. These short scenes will be presented to the public two days after the workshop by local actors.

Vale Prosper is a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies student at UGA, a produced playwright, and published poet. Their experience in theatre ranges from writing and producing classical theatre, to more abstract and devised works. Their most recent play enjoyed a successful run in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Hannah.Gunson@uga.edu

John P. Bray (PhD, MFA) will introduce our Instructor. He is an associate professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies at the University of Georgia, specializing in dramatic writing, Off-Off Broadway history, and Geek Theatre. He is a playwright, independent screenwriter, and freelance anthology editor. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Fine Arts Academy.
