2022 Off the Shelf Chicken CSA
Hello Friends and Neighbors!

Our Chicken CSA is back!
New this year we are also adding an Egg CSA and a Community Share. Read on!

If you're new here, here's a bit about what we do:
Our meat chickens, just like the laying hens, are moved every single day to fresh grass. This keeps the birds and the soil healthy and produces a superior product for us to eat. If you've had our eggs or lamb, you know the difference I'm talking about. The coops we use for the meat chickens are much smaller than our layer wagons, and can be maneuvered on more varied terrain. This allows us to utilize the meat birds to bring their rich manure to parts of the pasture where the layer coops can't go. This in turn builds soil to feed our flocks of lambs, who also graze these varied parts of the pastures. It is all apart of the bigger picture to improve the land we work on, which in turn benefits the farm and our community.
Our chickens are fed a locally grown Non-GMO feed from Stone House Grain in Hudson, NY. They are moved daily to fresh grass so their diet is heavily supplemented by grass and bugs. And in general, we do everything we can to give our birds the best life possible. Things like fresh cool water twice a day, extra shade in the summer or extra warmth in the spring, calm and humane handling, and of course a fresh paddock of grass twice a day no matter what. It all adds up and makes our chicken some of the tastiest around.

As an OTSF Chicken CSA member you'll receive a fresh (not yet frozen) chicken straight from our fields once a month, May-September. If you've never had fresh chicken, it's a treat! The texture is different (indescribable?) and it's generally juicier. Can't be beat.

So, the details...

There will be 5 pickups on the following SATURDAYS, 9am-1pm at the Great Barrington Farmers' Market:
May 28
June 25
July 23
August 20
September 17

We will NOT be holding birds this year. If you cannot make a pickup, you will need to arrange for someone else to pick it up for you.

Each Chicken CSA share is $138. (1 chicken/month, for a total of 5 chickens).

We are also offering an Egg CSA, if you'd like to pickup eggs every month with your chicken!
An egg CSA is $35/share.

We are also offering the option to purchase Community Shares.
Now more than ever we believe it is important to lift our neighbors up and bolster our community. Locally grown, pasture-raised food not only nourishes bodies but it brings people together, it starts conversations, and it strengthens ones sense of place. These are all things we believe make up a strong community. We already do a lot of work with the People's Pantry in Great Barrington and we hear about the impact of our food every time we stop by. The appreciation for locally grown food is immense and we are so proud to be apart of the work that Pantry does. But the need continues to grow (especially for protein) which is why we are starting the Community Share. All Community Shares will be donated monthly to the People's Pantry in Great Barrington. The Pantry serves over 130 people and families every single week. Check out their website for more information on what they do, including options to volunteer.

We all have different ways we can contribute, and a Community Share is just one way! Thank you for being apart of our community in whatever way suits you.

Once you sign up for your CSA(s) and we have received payment, we will confirm your membership with an email. We have limited space and membership is not confirmed until payment is received.

The 2022 season is right around the corner! We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Thank you, thank you!
Anna & Rob
