PBChat Mentor Liaison Application
*This is a volunteer position and no financial compensation will be offered. While not guaranteed, volunteers may be invited to attend free industry workshops alongside mentees during the mentees' PBChat mentorship period. This position is NOT an opportunity to seek referrals or educational or business-related guidance from PBChat mentors.

DEADLINE TO APPPLY: March 14th, 2022, 11:59pm ET.

*You may apply for up to two positions total. However, no candidate, if selected, will be able to hold more than one volunteer position.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The PBChat Mentor Liaison will act as a channel between Justin and PBChat mentees, helping to communicate and coordinate activities, build and develop relationships, and foster a safe and nurturing environment and experience for the mentees, especially during the annual PBChat Mentorship period.

VOLUNTEER DATES: May 2022 - May 2023. This position will be most active from May 2022 through October 2022. Selected candidate may reapply for same position the following year.

While PBChat is not an SCBWI-affiliated event, we operate using the SCBWI Anti-Harassment Policy (https://www.scbwi.org/anti-harassment-statement/). Harassment and/or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in swift termination of the volunteer.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

1) Following up with mentors and securing materials needed for the mentorship program.

2) Emailing news and updates to the mentors leading up to, during, and following the PBChat Mentorship period.

3) Possibly organizing mentorship submission and forwarding applications their respective mentors.

4) Coordinating, responding to, and resolving in a timely and transparent manner potential conflicts and/or concerns regarding mentors'  mentorship experience.

5) Securing mentors for workshops with the mentees and working closely with Justin and the mentee liaison to help facilitate those events.

6) Following up with mentors to coordinate the promotion of appropriately related services, events, deal announcements, forthcoming publications, award wins, social media posts, etc. And communicating with the PBChat Chat & Giveaway organizer to arrange giveaways and social media posts related to all of the above.

7) Finding, fielding, inviting, following up with, and finalizing candidates to mentor for future PBChat Mentorship years.

8) Meeting with Justin and other PBChat volunteers on a monthly basis via Zoom to check in, share updates, brain storm, and create plans of action.
