**The Diocese of Allentown requires each child to have two years of religious education prior to the reception of a sacrament. Therefore, any child beginning 1st Grade at a non-parochial should be enrolled in PREP in order to receive his or her sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion in 2nd Grade. A child who enters PREP at the 2nd Grade age without any previous religious education will be placed in 1st Grade and will need to complete the requisite two-year preparation before the reception of the sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion. The same is true for students who are planning to receive Confirmation in 8th grade. They must be enrolled in PREP in 7th grade in order to receive the sacrament on Confirmation in 8th grade.
