Community Input on Upcoming Orcutt USD Transition to By-Trustee-Area Elections //             Contribución de la Comunidad Sobre la Próxima Transición de Orcutt USD a Elecciones por área de Fideicomisarios

Residents, parents/guardians, staff, and all other stakeholders of the Orcutt Union School District,

In May 2018, the Orcutt Union School District Board of Trustees approved a resolution that began the process of moving to "by-trustee-area" elections. Up to now, our school district has had "at large" elections in which all district voters cast ballots for every seat on the board. By-trustee-area elections would subdivide the district into "trustee areas," with voters casting ballots only for the seat representing their designated area. By-trustee-area elections would put the district in compliance with the California Voting Rights Act. Trustee areas would be formed utilizing forthcoming data from the 2020 Census. (Additional information on the district's transition to by-trustee-area elections can be found on our website, www.orcutt-schools.net.)

An important part of the process of moving to by-trustee-area elections is gathering community input. This survey provides an opportunity for district stakeholders to give feedback on the development of boundaries to establish the initial trustee areas. This input will be taken into consideration by the district's demographer as they design multiple maps for the board's consideration.

Accordingly, we would like to invite you to take a few minutes to give us some input on the formation of trustee areas. Thank you in advance for your time!
