Art Space Volunteer Application
Thanks for your interest in volunteering with The Norwalk Art Space!
We are looking for Art Space Ambassadors to cover our front desk: greeting visitors, handling phone calls, working on the computer*, providing tours, and giving information about our mission, artists, classes and exhibitions. The Norwalk Art Space is open Wed - Sun from 9am - 3pm. We have two volunteer shifts per day: morning (9am-12pm) and afternoon (12pm-3pm). During these shifts, Ambassadors help us keep track of visitors, ensure the space stays clean (including bathrooms), complete various tasks on the computer, and monitor the artwork to keep it safe. Ambassadors are able to schedule their own hours through SignUp Genius after they have completed orientation. *Front desk volunteers must be comfortable using a PC with Google Docs & Sheets
We are also looking for volunteers to join the following teams:
INSTALLATION Team - helps set up and break down art exhibitions, usually every 5-6 weeks (requires basic carpentry skills and heavy lifting)
EVENTS Team - helps set up before large events, monitors space and assists visitors during events, and helps break down afterwards (includes checking bathrooms for cleanliness, refilling toilet paper/paper towels, wiping down sink as needed, picking up used plates and glasses, moving chairs, etc.)
AV/TECH Team - assists with audio/visual set up, PA/microphone set up and troubleshooting during events
MARKETING/PR Team - helps with marketing and public relations efforts, creates promotional images using Canva, Photoshop and/or InDesign
LANDSCAPING Team - light gardening and maintenance of our sculpture garden and grounds
TEEN Team - helps build and maintain social media presence on Snapchat, TikTok and Youtube (teens can also work front desk shifts and/or join any other team)
