Every year, SHRUB Coop and the University of Edinburgh Accommodation Services team up to sort the tonnes of stuff students leave at their accommodation.

For two weeks, we sort what they leave behind (kitchenware, clothing, books) and redistribute the items to new students at the start of the next academic year to encourage them not to buy completely new possessions when they start university.

Last year we diverted 17 tonnes of stuff!

We'll be sending teams of volunteers to student halls of residence where mountains of unwanted items often get left in common rooms when students move out.

As part of our Zero Waste Edinburgh programme, we're also expanding this activity to streets densely populated by students in Marchmont between the 9th to 12th May.

This is a huge exercise in zero waste action and circular economy, and we need all your help!

Each day will involve collecting and sorting donated items from either a student hall of residence, or a street in Marchmont with dense student populations. There will be a short briefing each morning to explain how
