Applications must be RECEIVED by the Nashville Singers by April 15, 2021. Awarded applicants will be notified by mail or email. The number of grants to be awarded in 2021 has not been finalized. Applications will be accepted by email, US Mail, UPS, or Fedex. The grant amount for this cycle is $1,000.00. The first grant installment of $750.00 will be awarded in the fall of 2021. To receive the final $250, grant recipient must submit a simple, one page summary report of how the funds were used, including any impact these funds had on your music education program. Grant recipients who submit this report by April 30, 2022 will be eligible for remaining fund distribution by May 15, 2022. Recipients who fail to submit their report by this date risk forfeiture of future grant funding;
“Music Makes a Difference” Grant Recipient Selection Criteria
Music education must be the key component of any music program requesting funds.
•
Middle Tennessee school or other music programs (qualifying for Title I federal funding and serving a minimum of 70% low-income students) OR non-profit/501(c)(3) programs directly funding music education (serving students regardless of their ability to pay) should apply.
•
Non-profits must enclose an IRS determination letter with the grant application.
•
Schools and programs must already employ a music educator(s) and have an existing music program in place.
•
Grant requests must articulate specific music program needs – for existing and/or planned programs.
•
Music education programs must meet national standard non-discrimination policies.
•
Recipient will be required to complete an evaluation in the spring of 2021.
Priority may be given to the following music education programs:
Note: Music education programs need not meet all criteria listed below to qualify.
•
vocal/choral music education
•
programs serving students in grades K-12
•
programs involving innovative educational reform
•
programs serving economically disadvantaged children
•
programs having established collaborative partnerships with parent-teacher-student associations (PTSA) and other community groups
Performance/recording/master class opportunities:
•
After a site visit by one or more members of the Nashville Singers artistic staff, one or more grant recipient schools/programs may be invited to present a 5-10 minute program on a future Nashville Singers.
•
Grant recipient schools or programs invited to perform on either of the Nashville Singers 2019 concert events must be willing and able to participate in a master class with one or more members of the Nashville Singers artistic staff, and attend no less than one technical/dress rehearsal prior to the event;
Restrictions: As a general rule, the Nashville Singers, Inc. does not make charitable grants to the following, but not limited to:
•
Religious, political, labor, athletic, or fraternal organizations
•
Operating deficits or debt retirement
•
Music therapy and dance
•
General requests for operating funds or capital campaigns
•
Event sponsorships such as, but not limited to walks, runs, or golf tournaments
•
Programs serving people and communities outside the U.S.
General Information:
•
To receive the balance of grant funding by May 15, 2022, grant recipient must submit a report specifying how the funds were used and what results were obtained by April 30, 2022.
•
Nashville Singers reserves the right to promote a collaborative partnership with a grant recipient for promotional purposes.
•
Nashville Singers reserves the right to the return of the grant funds if they have not been used as agreed or withdraw funding offer if the grant recipient organization takes more than 30 days to respond to emails or phone calls to schedule delivery of grant funding
