AMLE/HIDOE LEADERSHIP SUMMIT HIDOE Middle Level Educational Officers who service Grades 5-9 are invited to a special leadership summit on Monday, February 20. Take your leadership practice to the next level during an intimate afternoon with colleagues as we dive into essential middle-level education concepts.

PROGRAM FOR THE DAY:

11:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. | Opening General Session and Lunch

Responsive Capacity Building: What Makes Middle-Level Education Special?

Session Objectives:

  1. Explore young adolescent development and neuroscience as a framework for why middle schoolers need a unique approach
  2. Provide context on how the unique needs of middle schoolers are reflected in the roles of teachers, administrators, and central office.

12:40 P.M. – 1:40 P.M. | Breakout Session One

Healthy Habits, Healthy Schools: The Essential Attributes and Characteristics of Successful Middle Schools

  1. Option 1: Exploring the Essential Attributes and Characteristics of Successful Middle Schools from the viewpoint of New Principals/New to the Middle School Setting
  2. Option 2: Exploring the Essential Attributes and Characteristics of Successful Middle Schools from the viewpoint of the Veteran Middle School Principal
  3. Option 3: Exploring the Essential Attributes and Characteristics of Successful Middle Schools from the viewpoint of the Central Office Professionals

1:50 P.M. – 2:50 P.M. | Breakout Session Two

Digging Deeper into Key Middle School Model Concepts

  1. Option 1: Responsive Capacity Building through Teaming – Helping your Middle School Teachers be Most Effective in their Roles
  2. Option 2: Healthy Habits, Healthy Schools through Advisory – Building Relationships and Belonging as a Central Component of Middle School Culture
  3. Option 3: Action-Oriented Data Decision Making – Using your Data to Drive Middle School Best Practices

3:00 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. | Closing General Session

Tying it Together: Workforce Alignment

After debriefing the day, the faculty will tackle a final question: How do you get everyone on the same page?
