Survey
The cyborg is a cultural idea spread throughout the imaginaries of science fiction and in our everyday life. In common sense, it is a word connected to a set of expectations and related to some images, and in academic research is an idea with practical purposes. We find them in films, video games, television and internet series, short movies, and music videos. When content producers apply music to represent the cyborg, for instance, in a music video or a music performance in a film, the figure takes part in an audio-visual relationship. This thesis explores that relationship, taking as a starting point some artistic practices and specific works to understand how music, and sound in general, can signify the cyborg in audiovisual media. This questionnaire is part of my investigation, and the purpose is to find answers regarding how a music critic interprets the cyborg imaginaries in a music vide

I am a collaborator at the Research Centre for the Sociology and Aesthetics of Music. The Ph.D. thesis is in Musical Sciences, in the variation of Historical Musical Sciences, underway at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities from Nova University of Lisbon. It is entitled “The audiovisual representations of the cyborg: musical conceptualization and theory” and is financed by the Science and Technology Foundation. Your answers will be anonymous and, when used, will be associated with fictitious names. You can skip any question or leave it blank if you are not comfortable. The collection of personal information is to contextualize the practice of music video review and your opinions.
