2022 Reading is Fun 5K Volunteer Sign Up
District 279 Foundation partners with Kidstop (ISD 279 school-aged care program) to coordinate this healthy and social opportunity to advocate that Reading is Fun! Funds raised from this family-friendly event are allocated to media centers (libraries) in ISD 279 – Osseo Area Schools to purchase learning resources.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION:
Volunteer opportunities are available for the following activities.

Friday, August 5 - Location ESC
1. GOODIE BAG STUFFING AND TRUCK LOAD: 9:30 AM to 11 AM
Insert donated items into the goodie bags and load event items into the truck.

Saturday, August 6 - Location Elm Creek Park Reserve Acorn Area
2. SET UP, CHECK-IN AND AWARDS: 7:15 AM to end of the race
Set up the starting line, and check-in participants and volunteers. Hand out t-shirt and goodie bag to the participants. Register walk-up participants. After the start of the race, pack up the check-in area and transfer to the finish line to help hand out participant medals. During awards ceremony gather award recipients to pose for a photo. Following the race, clean up the park, pack the truck, and unpack the truck at the ESC.

3. COURSE VOLUNTEER: 8:30 AM to end of the race
Marshalls help set up the starting line, mark the track, and support/direct the participants during the race.
Water station volunteers set up stations on the course, provide water to participants on the course, and cheer on the participants. Following the race, clean up the course, pack the truck, and drive to the ESC to unpack the truck.

4. MASCOT PERFORMERS/ESCORTS and FINISH LINE: 7:45 AM to end of the race
Mascot performers greet participants, and  take part in the pre-race stretch and mascot dash.
Mascot escorts accompany the mascots to help direct them, keep them safe, and take photos.
Following the mascot race, transition to the finish line to assist race event staff, track the runners, hang medals on the kids after the 1K and 5K, and clean up after the Run/Walk. Following the race, clean up the grounds, pack the truck, and drive to the ESC to unpack the truck.
