We’d like you to join the upcoming global, multi-faith day of action: Faiths 4 Climate Justice!
On October 17th and 18th, faith and spiritual congregations and communities across the world will be taking public prayer actions calling on our leaders and institutions to be bolder on climate justice! In the leadup to the International Climate Negotiations, it is more important than ever that faith communities make our voices heard.
On Sunday, October 17th, faith communities will host events where we will unfurl banners calling for climate action, ring our bells, sound gongs and chimes, call the Azan, and more. GreenFaith has a collection of printable banners that may be appropriate for you, or you can design your own. Novasutras is holding an open, multi-faith Climate, Land and Water meditation on the lawn by the lighthouse on West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz at 3:30 on the 17th, where all are welcome to join us.
Then, on Monday, October 18th, dressed in our traditional religious clothing, faith communities will gather outside of government buildings, banks and investment houses, delivering our demands in person. Would you be interested in participating, or helping to organize such an event? RSVP and let us know right away. We will only proceed with plans for October 18th if there is sufficient interest.
The global GreenFaith movement is calling for: an immediate stop to new fossil fuel projects, deforestation and related financing, a commitment to green jobs, a rapid transition to 100% renewables away from fossil fuels, climate reparations, and investments in frontline communities.
Please RSVP right away if you are interested in participating, either as an individual or by organizing your faith community.
Feel free to share this with others who may want to join in the Faiths 4 Climate Justice days of action. Invite them to contact
michelle@novasutras.org with any questions, and to RSVP at this link.
Thank you for all you do to defend the sacred Earth!
