Students will attend After Care before their music lesson starts free of charge.  After the lesson, there is a 15 minute pick-up window.  After 15 minutes, you will be charged hourly for your child attending After Care.

Charges for music lessons and attending After Care are made monthly through https://parent.smarttuition.com/.  The cost & hourly billing for our After School Program is as follows:

$10.50/hr per individual
$15.75/hr per family

NOTE: The school closes promptly at the end of the After School Program and students MUST be picked up no later than 6:00pm. If parents are running late for any reason, they are required to call the After School Program phone at 973-432-4187. However, note that late charges will apply that every 5 minutes past 6pm will be an additional hourly rate (e.g. if you show up between 6:01 and 6:06 = $10.50/$15.75; show up at 6:11 = $21/$31.50). 

Esther Tsai-Van Ness has joined our staff after years of experience as a piano instructor, church musician and professional accompanist. She holds a Masters degree in Music from California State University, Los Angeles, and studied further at U.C.L.A. She currently accompanies Carol Choir at West Side Presbyterian Church, Eurythmy classes at Green Meadow Waldorf School and for music studios. Originally from Taiwan, Esther came to New Jersey with her husband, noted pianist Paul Van Ness, in 2007. They live in Midland Park with their daughter, Audrey. Esther's father is a pastor and instructor in seminaries, so she understands the importance of faith in life and wishes to establish that through music for EC children.  

Caleb Vasquez comes to us with a love of music.  An Eastern Christian alumni and currently studying music production, Caleb has lived his whole life bringing glory to our Lord with his voice and piano skills.  He has been trained in classical piano for over 10 years. Caleb currently attends Liquid Church and is involved with many areas of service.  Caleb is extremely excited to join EC and is looking forward to sharing his love of music.

Meagan Hoogerhyde is a current college student studying music.  She has been involved with using her voice from a young age.  She currently attends Grace Bible Church.  She has spent many summers getting involved with young kids in Christian summer camps and leading voice lessons.  She is trained in theater and classical voice, and is currently studying voice pedagogy.  Maegan hopes, as an educator is to instill in students a love of learning and a love of God and she wants our children at EC to be engaged in music by learning to read, explore, play and perform while having fun and praising God.

the music teacher may also ask for you to pay for the book given to your child that can be kept after the end of the year

AVAILABLE TIMESLOTS: from 3:00 to 6:00pm.  In order to best fit your needs, we ask that you select three time slots that work for you.  You will be contacted via email with your child's assigned time slot after responses are collected.  Please be aware that students who may need to take the shuttle from the Wyckoff Campus will arrive at 3:40 so do not request a music lesson before then if needed.  

NOTICE: You must provide the instrument (besides piano).  Please contact the After School Director if you need a recommendation on where to purchase or rent an instrument.
