Leadership Council Application
This is step one of the LC enrollment process.  There will be a new Leadership Council recognized at the May 7, 2023 Youth Disciples Welcome Party.  Current 8th graders-11th graders are welcome to apply to be part of the Leadership Council appointed on that date to serve for the 2023-2024 school year.

Step two of the process begins with a personal phone call from the director of youth discipleship at (248)615-5571 so that we can schedule an interview or complete a phone interview right then!  To prepare for the phone call, refer to the final 2 paragraphs of this explanation.

During the personal interview, you will be asked to share your story of your relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.    You might begin thinking about your story in one of these ways.  1.  You might explain your faith foundation.  For example, how did your upbringing lead you to friendship with Jesus?  2.  You might explain how/when you encountered Christ and what it has been like learning to accept Jesus and the Church and/or the joys and struggles of the process of becoming a disciple.

I will also ask for your version of a mission statement or bullet points answering the question "What do you want the OLS Youth Disciples to be/what will it look like/what will be the hallmark of this group/how will a student view it from the outside/how will it feel to be one of the group?  What should be our goals/mission?"

The roles and responsibilities of LC members are as follows: 1.  Choose one community-building YD activity from our calendar to help plan, prepare, set up and clean up.  You will be encouraged to share your part of your own personal testimony or lead a prayer, activity or discussion during an event as well.  Please keep in mind sports and other commitments as you choose which date you can help.  Plan on 2 planning meetings/zooms/calls in the month or two proceeding that event and the week before, as well as an extra 30-60 minutes for set up, depending on the type of the activity.  I will appreciate receiving a text response to various questions as you are able during the 1-2 months prior to the event.  This is an event you are expected to attend.
 2.  Other YD regular events should be a priority for your schedule, but attendance is not required at every event. RSVP is expected for all events.
3.  Plan on 2-3 Leadership Council meetings during the year for group planning, recap, and team building activities.  Please participate in the email/text discussions regarding the possible dates you would be available for these meetings.
4.  Text communication is required for LC members.  Responses/RSVPs are expected when events are announced/questions asked.
