Setsuhi Shiraishi exhibition titled "Into The Calligraphy" + BSC Social Celebrating APAHM

The opening reception celebrates the Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month of May, and opens an exhibit for calligrapher, Setsuhi Shiraishi, from Japan. The evening kicks off with a social hour for the general public to meet Baltimore Sister City members, and three of BSC’s Asian Sister City Committees from Japan, China, and Korea. It then moves into a live performance by Setsuhi Shiraishi as she demonstrates her pursuit of line and space. Setsuhi views calligraphy as a comprehensive art and creates live performances by fusing traditional calligraphy with live music, dancers, performance artists and more.

The exhibit will continue from May 31st to June 2nd 2024 at Atrium Artspace 2029 Maryland Ave, Baltimore, Maryland 21218. These events are free and open to the public. Atrium Artspace is Setsuhi's first solo exhibition in Baltimore and will feature 9 pieces produced in Baltimore, Maryland and the DMV area (2017 and later) which are displayed throughout the renovated brownstone.
All pieces will be on exhibit until June 2nd. Gallery hours , Saturday, June 1st 11am-3pm and Sunday, June 2nd 1pm-5pm.

Setsuhi Shiraishi has designed the concept of the new uniform for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Japan National Team, "Circle". With Shiseido Co., Ltd. for Clé de Peau Beauté, and wall paintings of Oracle Japan Co., Ltd.
She has worked in Baltimore and many cities along the east coast regularly with Michael since 2017.
Locally she has performed and given workshops at Charm City Night Market, Baltimore Museum Of Art, The Crown, OpenDoors Baltimore on Waverly Main Street, Peabody Heights Brewery for Free Fall Baltimore, Montgomery College, UMBC, Jemicy High School, MICA, and more. Up until now, She has done solo exhibitions at Paris, NY, SF, JICC Embassy of Japan in the United States.

The exhibition and live performance collaboration is curated by Michael Young (Miki of OTS productions

Street parking is free and available after 6:00pm
Pay to park in a lot is available in walking distance right behind graffiti alley / Motorhouse.
Pay to park in garage is located on Charles Street across from The Charles Theater.

Accessibility:
The space is located on the 1st floor and there is one set of stairs to get into the front door.
Once inside there are chairs and couches if you would like to sit down.
