DAY: Tuesday 14 June
TIME: 12.30PM - 01.30PM
SPEAKERS: Joanne Clarke (Pharmacy Profession Lead, BNSSG Training Hub)
TOPIC TITLE: Supporting you to become a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) and the benefits to the PCN / practice
Non-medical prescribers have an important part to play in practice, but the demands on time to support them through the prescribing course are high. Historically, this support could only be provided by a medic but all of the healthcare regulators have amended their standards to allow non-medical prescribers to be the supervisors / assessors of prescribing students.
This webinar will explore the role of a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) / Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP) and supervisors of non-medical prescribing students in practice. We will look at who can perform this role, what competencies are needed, and how becoming a DPP will support you in your career development. We are hoping to discuss a case study and also to provide some resources.
Organised by BNSSG Training Hub, this session is offered to all non-medical prescribers (nurses, pharmacists, and AHPs) and GPs interested in developing their education and supervision skills, and to all PCN / practice management staff who'd like to learn about the benefits of having non-medic assessors in their organisation!
