Volunteer Warden Offering for COP 26
Glasgow Quaker Meeting is keen to make space available for Quaker groups and other campaign groups during the period of COP 26 in the first two weeks of November 2021.  To do this we need help to provide wardening cover in the Meeting House. This could involve opening or closing the building, setting up meeting spaces with chairs, etc., guiding visitors to the appropriate rooms, ensuring compliance with fire regulations and guiding people how to escape in case of emergency, and providing general support. Training for all volunteer wardens will be offered in mid-October, and anyone volunteering must have participated in our training.

We are seeking help from Quakers (Friends and attenders) from across Scotland to maintain this service for the event. In practice we expect this to be from Friends who can travel easily to Glasgow, both for training and wardening duties.  We hope to plan cover well in advance so that Friends who volunteer know what to expect. If you are willing to commit some time to this, please complete Your Information and submit the form.

We especially appreciate those who can commit well in advance, so that we know how much time we can offer to potential users.  If you can submit this form by end May 2021, that would be very welcome.  It will be possible to volunteer after that (until end September 21), but the sooner we know of availability, the easier it is for us to plan ahead.

Our old meeting house has limitations on accessibility, as the lift is small and does not link to all floors. We do not wish to exclude anyone who may need additional mobility support, but we need to discuss your requirements. There is a question at the end of the form for this.

We will acknowledge your kind offer as soon as we record it (not an automatic reply, so it may be a day or two), and we will contact you again over summer to confirm timings of availability, and when we need your help.

Thanks for considering this offer of service.
