The U.S. Senate is scheduled to confirm the appointment of Julie D. Fisher to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Belarus. As a newly appointed Ambassador, she would have to present her credentials to the head of the country upon her arrival. Presenting Lukashenka with her credentials would be akin to recognizing him as the legitimate president, which contradicts many statements made by the U.S. Dept. of State and would undermine the U.S. support of democracy in Belarus. Sign this letter to ask Secretary Pompeo to delay Ms. Fisher's dispatch until the people of Belarus elect a new President in a free and fair election.
