The purpose of this Board is to create a unique opportunity for young people regardless of their economic status. We know that many programs can be inaccessible for the younger generations due to cost. We wanted to change that.
Our Communications Manager, Katie Dyas, is a millennial who really wanted to hone in on the passion of younger people for causes that they care about. “I have actually looked into joining other non-profit Boards or young professional Boards myself and my biggest barrier was not the time dedication or even the passion for a specific cause - it all came down to the annual fees. I simply can’t afford it.”
We believe that philanthropy comes in many different forms. The majority of philanthropy that we see - on our screens and in the news - is focused solely on donating money. We wanted to change that for our own organization and respond to the economic situation of Millennials and Gen Z’s. And thus, the Young Professionals Advisory Board was created.
