The Vice Chancellor for Research (VCR) is an important senior leadership role on the UC Berkeley campus with wide impact to the research enterprise and key mission of the university. The VCR ensures Berkeley’s leading position among research and teaching universities by sustaining an effective environment for faculty and student research and enhancing their entrepreneurial opportunities. The VCR fosters close cooperative relationships with academic deans to support research conducted in the schools, colleges, and divisions, in addition to direct management of formally organized institutes, centers, and research support offices that report to the VCR. This Includes offices that advance entrepreneurship, innovation, management of intellectual property, sponsored projects, research compliance, and research development.
As a senior leadership role for the Berkeley campus, the VCR will also have the opportunity to positively impact diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for the research community and for the campus.
The following survey should take approximately 10 minutes. It is a way for the search committee and the external search firm to gather input from the Berkeley community and for all to be heard.
