LEAD 499 Seat REQUEST
LEAD 499 is an online asynchronous course that supports the required leadership practice experience for the Minor in Leadership. Experieinces may include internships, service learning, research, field-based experiences, global engagements, and extra-curricular involvement. You must enroll in LEAD 499 in the quarter you are completing the experience.

  • The experience must take place for at least one academic quarter for at least 30 hours total.
  • The experience must provide an opportunity to practice leadership within a shared context where you are developing and practicing leadership competencies. You cannot use an independent study experience, unless it is part of a team setting (ex. a research lab).
  • Research must be faculty-mentored or post-doctoral researchers.
  • Learning goals must be identified and articulated for each internship, research, field- based experience or extra-curricular involvement.
  • A mid-quarter check-in with supervisor is required, and a written final performance evaluation tied to the leadership competencies must be completed by a supervisor or proxy.
