LEAD 499 is an online asynchronous course that supports the required leadership practice experience for the Minor in Leadership. Experieinces may include internships, service learning, research, field-based experiences, global engagements, and extra-curricular involvement. You must enroll in LEAD 499 in the quarter you are completing the experience.
- The experience must take place for at least one academic quarter for at least 30 hours total.
- The experience must provide an opportunity to practice leadership within a shared context where you are developing and practicing leadership competencies. You cannot use an independent study experience, unless it is part of a team setting (ex. a research lab).
- Research must be faculty-mentored or post-doctoral researchers.
- Learning goals must be identified and articulated for each internship, research, field- based experience or extra-curricular involvement.
- A mid-quarter check-in with supervisor is required, and a written final performance evaluation tied to the leadership competencies must be completed by a supervisor or proxy.
