As gallery owners, staff members, and artists working in and with New York City art galleries, we recognize that we face a climate emergency that requires both immediate and collective action. We also acknowledge that this crisis intersects with racial, economic, labor, and other forms of structural injustices in both its root causes and direct effects.

By adding our names to this letter, we commit to:

1) Evaluating the climate impact of our galleries and artist studios and reconsider practices that can become more climate-conscious.

2) Speaking up to advocate for more climate-conscious practices when engaging with colleagues, vendors, and clients, making these conversations standard at our galleries and in our studios.

3) Listing our names publicly to let others know that we share this commitment.

This letter was written and is maintained by gallery workers and artists working as Galleries Commit, a worker-led collective committed to a climate-conscious, resilient, and equitable future within New York City galleries, and Artists Commit, an artist-led collective committed to a climate-conscious, resilient, and equitable future.
