Peer Mentor Application 2019-2020
The CRC Peer Mentoring Project supports First Year Experience students as they embark on their Cosumnes River College education. Although the program is open to any new student who desires a peer mentor, its purpose is to assist first-generation (first in the family to attend college) and Disproportionately Impacted students with their transition to college life.

History
The Peer Mentor project is an opportunity for current CRC students to support other CRC students in their educational journey at CRC. The Peer Mentorship project is intended to provide leadership, mentorship and support to first time freshmen students through peer mentoring and student retention activities.
Vision
To cultivate relationships between mentees and mentors
To increase first-time freshmen involvement, retention and confidence
To provide a support system for incoming freshmen students
To present mentees with leadership opportunities
To offer mentees an opportunity to explore the resources and activities provided at CRC
To provide mentees an opportunity to support future students as future Peer Mentors
Mission
Provide mentees the opportunity to connect with a peer mentor who can offer a broader view of campus life at CRC as well as providing support and opportunities to be successful at CRC and beyond.
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Peer Mentor Project staff, Peer Mentors will create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all mentees. Peer Mentors will work with a diverse team to provide a wide variety of support services to mentees. Peer Mentors will develop relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators and closely support mentees for academic success. Peer Mentors serve as a peer contact for the program
Responsibilities
Meet with mentee(s) in groups and/or individually.
Serves as a peer liaison and refers students to appropriate campus resources.
Contacts and schedules mentee appointments to monitor their progress.
Represents the Peer Mentor Project; serves on panels and provides outreach services for the Peer Mentor Project on-campus
Complete all appropriate paperwork and reports required.
Manage projects and meet expected deadlines.
Required Qualifications
Must be a current/enrolled at Cosumnes River College in a minimum of 6 units
Must have at time of employment and maintain a 2.5 GPA
Be on time for assigned work schedule, activities, events and tasks
Must be able to work with students, staff, administrators and faculty from diverse backgrounds and identities related to socio-class, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, sex, ability, nationality, citizenship, religion
Demonstrate initiative
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
Must submit all answers requested in the job posting
Must be able to attend the required summer training days
Must be able to attend weekly Friday seminars 9:00 am to 11:00 am

This is a job posting for the full 2019-2020 Academic Year.
$12.00 per hour
Hours will be scheduled during the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, on weekdays and occasionally weekends.
This includes a weekly seminar on Fridays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
This position includes frequent independent work, your total hours per week cannot exceed 26 hours.
