Brief History of the Market
This is a survey to capture origin stories of farmers markets for a series of articles on the modern farmers market movement. If you founded or manage a market in the US, please add your best knowledge of the history of the market. For this project, please only add markets that meet this project’s criteria which is:
2 or more more regional businesses (with at least one farmer) that regularly set up and sell directly to consumers in a physical space, “governed” by some level of agreement* -not necessarily written- & managed by a person or persons.
If your market does not meet this criteria, we’d appreciate if you could answer the first 3 questions before exiting.

*Examples of that agreement might include but are not limited to rules such as:
      growers/producers only
      sustainable production methods used
      food access benefits accepted
      stay all day
      locally made
      show up regularly

The definition of farmers markets used in this project is not meant to be a criticism of markets that operate under different criteria, but is instead meant to create usable analysis by measuring similarly operated markets.
