The recent conference in Freiburg, Germany, hosted by the Freiburg Institute for Basic Income Studies (FRIBIS), had Gender and Care as its conference theme. As a result, those of us who attended were immersed in discussions of these aspects of research on basic income in a way we had not yet experienced at other basic income conferences. A few of us decided we wanted to continue the conversation by creating a Gender and Basic Income network, which we invite you to join.
Our broad goal is to create a way to be in touch with other scholars and activists interested in gender and basic income to support and inspire each other. More specific goals include:
Sharing information about relevant upcoming conferences, workshops, and events
Working together to create intentionally gender-focused panels, workshops, roundtables etc. at basic income conferences
Working together to create intentionally basic income-focused panels, workshops, roundtables etc. at gender conferences
Creating opportunities for research and publication collaborations
Supporting scholars and activists new to discussions about gender and basic income
Amplifying women’s voices and the gender perspective in politics and policy formation around income support programs.
