Harvest Fellowship Church Covenant

Article III.  Membership.

Section 1. Membership shall be by public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, baptism, and upon submission to and accordance with the Statement of Faith. Please read the Statement of Faith of Harvest Fellowship (below) before signing the covenant.

Section 2.  The church covenant that binds Harvest Fellowship shall be as follows:

“Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and on profession of faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; striving to live according to the Scriptures, which I accept as final authority in all matters; I do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with all others, as one body in Christ. I have read the Statement of Faith of Harvest Fellowship and agree with its beliefs.

It is my desire and prayer that the righteousness and love of Christ might increase in me daily, that I might set the example that God intends.  I covenant to support faithfully this church, as part of the Body of Christ, with my prayers, presence, gifts and service.”

Section 3.  The purpose of voting is to discern the mind of Christ.  We are a theocracy not a democracy.  Only such members of legal age and in full and regular standing may act and vote in the transactions of this church.  Families are to seek God’s will for every matter voted on.
HARVEST FELLOWSHIP STATEMENT OF FAITH
Theology Proper: We believe there is one God.  He eternally exists in three distinct yet equal persons; God the Father, Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.

Christology: Jesus Christ is God the Son and is true God and true man according to the virgin birth.  His death and the shedding of His blood was as our substitute for the remission of our sins.  We believe in the vicarious penal atonement of His death on the cross, His bodily resurrection and ascension, His imminent return to receive to Himself all who have put their faith in Him.

Pneumentology:  The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, equal with the Father and the Son.  He is the Vicar of Christ on earth today.  It is the Holy Spirit who applies the work of Christ in the believers’ lives.  It is by the Holy Spirit alone that the believer can serve God, exercise spiritual gifts for the edification of the body, and worship God.  His purpose is to glorify Jesus Christ.  Every believer is commanded to be filled with the   Holy Spirit and walk after the Spirit, putting to death the deeds of the flesh.

Bible:  We believe the Bible is the Word of God, inerrant in the original manuscripts, and the supreme and final authority for life and truth.  We recognize the sixty six books of the Old and New Testaments alone as Scripture.  We believe in the literal interpretation of Scripture.  We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible.

Anthropology:  Mankind was created in the image of God, to glorify God in their words and works.  Mankind willfully disobeyed God and fell from righteousness and is eternally separated from God.  All people everywhere stand in need of God’s grace and atonement provided by Jesus Christ, apart from which they will be eternally condemned.

Soteriology:  God desires a vibrant relationship with all mankind.  He has provided all that is needed for this relationship by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  God actively seeks sinners to be reconciled to Himself.  Salvation is the free gift of God through the Lord Jesus Christ.  It must be willfully received by a person repenting of a self-willed life and believing on Jesus Christ.

Angelology:  We believe in the ministry of elect angels, who are created by God and are ministering spirits, sent to serve the inheritors of salvation.  We believe in Satan and the fallen angels who are the great enemies of God and His people, with whom the church is in a state of war.  They are created beings that have been totally defeated by Christ on the cross and are awaiting their final eternal punishment.  In the meantime the believer is to be sober and alert, not ignorant of the devil’s schemes.  He/She is to resist the devil, not giving him any foothold in life by a slack attitude toward sin, but must take his/her position in Christ and do battle against the spiritual forces of evil and against societal evil in Christ’s name.  Every believer is to be involved in releasing those ensnared by the devil by evangelizing and discipling others.

Ecclesiology:  The Church is made up of all who have received by faith the salvation offered by God through Jesus Christ.  It is the ‘Oikos’ (kingdom, household) of God and his Christ.  It is to be involved in ‘oikodomeo’ (building up, edification) of believers, and ‘oikonomous’ (stewardship) of all of God’s gifts and resources, and redeeming the ‘oikoses’ (kingdoms, families, households) of this world through personal and corporate evangelism.
