Dear Parents/Caregivers,
As we grow, we hope to create our own sporting teams outside of school hours. As a part of this, I am sending out an interest form to see if I can form any Netball teams this year. If you read this information and are interested in your child/ren joining a netball team, please complete this Google Form, in the first instance.
Following this, if I have enough interest, I can then send you the official registration information that Netball North Harbour require. Please read the information below:
All games are played at Edith Hopper Park, Ladies Mile, Manly. Parents/Caregivers must take their own child to and from games, as a Nukumea teacher will not be present during games (these are held after school).
Years 1, 2, & 3 are classed as future ferns and will play modified games of Netball.
Please note that all games are held outside, in all weathers. A draw will be given by Netball North Harbour and game times vary. Games will be held weekly. If the school can't play for any reason, we will be fined by NNH and each team member will be asked to contribute to the cost of the default. Games will not be held during public or school holidays.
Years 1&2:
Games are played on Tuesdays, from 6th May - 5th August (12 weeks)
Years 1/2 will play 4-a-side, with a maximum of 6 in a team
Year 3:
Games are played on Tuesdays, from 6th May - 12th August (13 weeks)
Year 3 will play 5-a-side, with a maximum of 7 in a team
Years 4&5:
Games are played on Thursdays, from 8th May - 21st August (14 weeks)
Years 4 - 6 will play 7-a-side, with a maximum of 10 players in a team
Year 6:
Games are played on Wednesdays, from 7th May - 20th August (14 weeks)
Years 4 - 6 will play 7-a-side, with a maximum of 10 players in a team
* There is no netball played on Kings Birthday Weekend, 31st May (Junior Netties) & 2nd June (Monday netball)
* There is no netball played on Matariki Weekend, 21st June (Junior Netties)
* There is no netball during the July school holidays from Saturday, 28th June to 12th June
The cost of Netball is per team. This will be calculated once we know we have enough interest to make up a team, but it will be roughly around $120 per player.
Both boys and girls can play netball, but there is a limited amount of boys who can be on the court at any one time.
When you commit your child to playing in a team, they must play for the full season, unless there is injury or illness. Players leaving teams disrupts games. The fees are set by NNH, and full payment will be required irrespective of illness or injury. Please read all of the details carefully and only complete this google form if you fully commit to your child playing and you taking them to their game every week after school at Edith Hopper Park. If people commit, then say their child can't play, this could result in the whole team being unable to play, and an additional cost incurred to the school.
If we cannot create full teams, but your child has registered an interest, I will try to include them in other teams from other schools. Please indicate if you do not wish for this to happen.
Photos & Videos
As part of the registration process, when parents/caregivers accept the terms and conditions of the registration form, NNH (Netball North Harbour) has the right to take photos of players which they use for promotional material, social media posts, etc, about tournaments, programmes or leagues.
If you would not like any filming or photography of a child/ren, please let Mrs Fielding know ASAP.
For each team we will require a team manager/scorer to keep communication with the team and keep score of games (completing score cards). Managers and coaches will be required to rotate players during games. Each player must play at least a half game, and half games mist be kept fair and consistent. Please note: We cannot register teams without parent/caregiver volunteers to manage. We will also require a coach for each team to help the team grow and develop. Please indicate if you can take on these important roles.
