Save the Deen House Sign
Lake Morton Neighborhood Association has taken a position to oppose the conditional use application to turn the Deen House located at 417 Frank Lloyd Wright Way (corner of Success Ave) into a preschool.  The LMNA Board of directors feels strongly, based on the information provided about parking, traffic flow and exterior alterations to the structure, that this is an improper use of this historic home.  The LMNA Board, on behalf of the neighborhood, prefers that the Historic Deen House remain a single family home. Though it is zoned, multi-family now, LMNA plans to lobby the city in the coming weeks to change the zoning back to single family as part of the Lake Morton Neighborhood Plan.

Those neighbors who are in agreement with the LMNA position are asked to allow a sign supporting the "Deen House as a HOME" in your yard.  The next meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board is Tuesday, November 19th and, as far as we know, the application will be on the agenda. We'd like to make the statement visually about the support of the Deen House as a HOME and not a commercial use.

If you sign up below, we will place the sign in your yard and pick it back up when necessary. This issue may extend to city commission meetings in December, so expect that the sign may be out for a month or so. If you'd like it removed at any time, please contact us a HistoricLMNA@gmail.com and we will remove the sign.
