2022 KC Fringe Internship Application
The 18th Annual KC Fringe Festival runs Sunday, July 15th through Sunday, July 31st in Kansas City, in a variety of venues, and features performing and visual artists, both local and from around the world. Hundreds of volunteers work together with the support of a small administrative and operations team to produce this event. This dedicated family of arts enthusiasts, who come together year after year, are looking for more folks to join the fun!

Internships provide an opportunity to learn how a small professional arts organization operates, as well as offer the intern insight into how an arts festival is organized, operated, and managed. There are many aspects an intern may be a part of, from administration duties to artist liaison to social media and more! These duties can be tailored to particular interests, a degree path, or career prospects. This is a great way to become part of a team that welcomes and supports all individuals, and to be connected to the larger Kansas City Arts Community.

KC Fringe is committed to providing a respectful and safe environment, free from harassment, violence, discrimination, bullying and abuse. We encourage,  support, and offer opportunities to people of any  race, gender, age, marital status, religious belief, citizenship, mental and physicial ability, or sexual orientation. We are dedicated to creating welcoming and equitable spaces, where all are treated with respect and dignity, in the Kansas City Arts community.

HOW TO APPLY:
Applications are due by April 24th. Zoom or phone interviews will then be scheduled. The internships are scheduled to begin approximately May 15th and run through August 6th, with some flexibility depending on need.  You may apply to more than one  internship category, though will only serve on one team.
Please contact Intern Coordinator Robin Murphy at rmurphy@kcfringe.org with any questions.

COMPENSATION:
Our internships are unpaid positions; however, we are happy to work with your school to help you receive academic credit or community service as needed. The interns will receive a Festival Staff Pass for all events.

While most opportunities may require the intern to be present on site, some interns will be able to work remotely. Most likely, there will be a combination of both.

Intern time commitment is flexible depending on the team assigned and the needs of both intern and festival staff. Most internships will begin at 10-20 hours a week and then increase as the festival gets closer. During the festival itself, some positions will be working many more hours, and in the evening and weekends. This will also be established between intern and team lead.

SUPERVISION:
Each intern will be assigned a professional mentor/team lead who will assign projects and be available to answer questions and give feedback. All interns will receive an overview of the organization and be invited to participate  in committees and volunteer events.
