Learning Event #5 - Third Commandment - 10.28.20
What is the 3rd commandment? *
Martin Luther writes in the Small Catechism that this means that "we are to fear and love God, so that we do not despise preaching or God's word, but instead keep that word holy and gladly hear and learn it."  Do you always go to church with a glad heart, or do you ever resent going to church? *
Do you go to (or watch) worship every week?  Do you worship as a family or by yourself? *
Get up and do some exercises for 2 minutes without stopping.  Run in place, do jumping jacks, do sit ups, hop on one foot, etc. - you can change activities but don't stop moving.  How did you feel at the end?  If you were to do this constantly, how would you feel? *
Is it productive to be constantly running from one activity to another without taking time for yourself? *
Take a break.  Watch this video and follow the directions in the video.
Many people use quiet breathing and meditation as a time of prayer.  Write one sentence below that you could use as a prayer meditation.  Example:  Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of life. *
Memory Work, Stump the Presenter, and Prayer Requests
Please read and summarize your memory work below and submit any Stump the Presenter questions or Prayer Requests.
Memory Work - Read the following verse.  Why does it apply to the Third Commandment?  "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day.  Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." -Exodus 20:11 *
If you have a religion/theology question for Stump the Presenter, please add it here.
