Sponsor Form
The role of the sponsor in Confirmation is to encourage and support the candidate in her/his
efforts to be a true and faithful witness to Christ.

The person you choose to be your sponsor must be:
• 16 years of age or older
• A practicing Catholic who has received all the sacraments of initiation – Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation
• Your sponsor must be a member of the Catholic church who lives a life of faith to the best of his/her ability
• Your sponsor cannot be one of your parents
• Your sponsor can be a sibling, friend, relative, godparent – someone you hope to have in your life for a long time
• If your sponsor is unable to attend the Confirmation celebration, another person can stand in for them on that day.
