One year ago, the whole world as we knew it rapidly changed. For some, it started earlier, but there was no mistaking by March of 2020, things were not going to be normal for the rest of 2020.

We at SingaporeConnect suddenly shifted from a "food, friends, family, fun" comfort zone to reach out to our community as much as we could, starting with the Covid-19 Online Gathering (3/15/20) (https://singaporeconnect.groups.io/g/main/topic/singaporeconnect_covid_19/71964103?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,40,71964103)

We asked:

What is the likely, best-case, worst-case scenario here in the SF Bay Area and how long is this challenging situation going to last?

Who are the most affected of us here? Small business owners (particularly restaurant owners)?  Those who are older or with medical issues? How badly are they being affected and can we help them?

What will happen to me or my family members, should we get sick, be subject to a home-quarantine, am infected, or have to leave the US? Will Singapore put us on a quarantine?

How can I keep my kids engaged while they are off school yet I have to work from home?

Is there help to get groceries and cleaning products if I’m sick? Might there be a way to allow those of us more capable to help those in need?

What can the Singapore Government do for overseas Singaporeans?

And closed with, we in SingaporeConnect may not have answers, but, said we like to facilitate a discussion, where all of you can share your thoughts, questions, suggestions, and ideas. From that perhaps we can identify key concerns to feedback to the Singapore Government, via the Consul-General or Singapore Global Network, if necessary, or think of initiatives that can help our community help those who are most affected.

One year later. Have you looked back? What are you looking forward to? How have you fared? We like to mark this with a retrospective on the past year, but, most of all, ask for your motivating thoughts for everyone in the community.
