Four Seasons Books Author Event Request Form
Established in 1991, Four Seasons Books is an independent bookshop located in the university-town of Shepherdstown in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia that welcomes authors, book clubs, book events, as well as private store rentals.
We host many author events every year and feel strongly about supporting our community of writers by carrying their books and hosting events.
If you are interested in having a book signing or other book related event at Four Seasons, please fill out this form.
Please be aware all events must be approved by the shop and available space and time is limited.
PLEASE NOTE:
Events are scheduled 2-4 months in advance, please submit your request BEFORE your book has been published to allow for proper planning & marketing.
We host many types of events and will offer you the event that seems like the best fit for your book. This includes virtual events, single author events, as well as author/genre panels.
Events that offer more than a reading are of particular interest to our community and tend to offer more of a "guarantee" of attendance. Think: workshops, demonstrations, craft talks, or other interactive activities. These types of offerings incentivize attendees to make time in their busy schedules!
Single author events, unless the author has a strong neighborhood/local connections, draw very little audience. Consider partnering with a second author, either as a reader or as a guest host/conversation partner.
Please tell us about the local connection when you describe your book. By "local" and "immediate" we mean with our customer base, not within the state or region.
This form is intended for authors, not publicists or publishers. If you are here because you represent an author, please forward the link directly to the writer. We reserve the right to ignore forms filled out by publicity companies.

Book Release Party - a celebratory party and reading for a new book offered for the first time
Single Author Reading - a reading from a book/s by an author with the power to draw significant audience on their own. These events should include a guest host.
Combined Author Reading - a shared reading with several authors, usually with related books or a common theme
Story Time - a picture book reading that includes age-appropriate activities, games or songs
Readings for Writers - 1-3 authors who read their work and also offer information about the writing process - perhaps a craft lesson, showing how a piece was edited, talking about the genre, etc
Local Author Salon - an occasional Sunday afternoon event with 2-3 writers from the neighborhood, usually with first books that are small-press or self-published. If you are interested in this we'll send you a form with the dates and more info.
Topic Panel - 2 or more authors/teachers/activists discussing a topic of interest to our neighborhood and customer base,
Dinner + Author Talk - a catered event with a reading from an author as well as a signing
