What does it mean to be a Title I School?
Being a Title I School means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school's existing programs.

At Fairview Elementary, Title I funds are used:
* to obtain a high-quality education for all of our students by highly qualified faculty and staff
* development and annual revision of our Parent Policy
* development and annual revision of our Parent/Student/Teacher Compact
* development and annual revision of the Schoolwide Plan
* parental notification requirements

What curriculum does our school use?
Fairview Elementary School uses programs that support the Indiana Academic Standards:

* My Math (McGraw-Hill)
* Fluency Assessments
* Orton-Gillingham (OG) phonics
* Spellography (grades 3-5)
* My-View Literacy (Pearson)

Curriculum Maps have been developed by grade-level teams in the Corporation to assist with sequencing and outlining each subject.  These Maps help the teachers be intentional in their planning how and when to teach each state standard. Additionally, the Maps delineate a reasonable amount of time for in-depth teaching and assessment.

Description of School Improvement Plan and Goals
The School Improvement Plan includes:

* the identification of the school planning team and how they will be engaged in the planning process:
* a needs assessment and summary of academic and non-academic data
* prioritized goals, strategies, and action steps to help address the academic and non-academic needs of students:
* teacher and staff professional development needs; and
* plans for the coordination of resources.

What is a Parent Involvement Plan?
As a parent or family member, you are vital in the development, implementation, and review of the parent involvement program at our school.

So that you can be as active as possible in your child's school success we will:
* hold an annual meeting to inform you of Title I program requirements and your rights to be informed and involved regarding this program
* provide families with timely information regarding Parent and Family Involvement Activities and Trainings
* offer activities and trainings at flexible times to maximize participation
* assist families in understanding academic content standards, assessments, and how to monitor and improve student achievement
* inform you on where to locate a copy of the Title I Complaint Procedures

What is a School-Parent Compact?
The compact is a commitment from the school, the parent, and the student to share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the State's high standards.


As a parent of a child attending a Title I school, you have the right to be included in the development of the School-Parent Compact.
Parent Rights to Know
* Be provided information on your child's level of achievement on assessments

 * Request and receive information on the qualifications of your child's teacher and paraprofessionals that are working with your child

* Be informed if your child is taught by a non-highly qualified teacher for an expended period of time.
How can I be involved?
* Attend parent meetings
