President and Mrs. James A. Garfield’s relationship was typical of others in the 19th Century. However, there were some glitches along the way that might surprise you.

Through Lucretia’s own words, you’ll learn how she crossed paths with James Garfield of Orange Township and their lengthy courtship, along with tales about high- and low-points during their 22-year marriage. Children – and politics – are woven into the First Lady’s story.

The presentation includes greeting attendees and a 40-minute program followed by a question-and-answer session. Photo opportunities are available throughout the visit. **Masks are highly encouraged if event is held indoors.**

Cost is $5 per person, free for Shaker Historical Society and Ohio History Connection members. The $5 per person fee payable in cash or check will be collected on the day of the event.
