Once the application is received and you are approved to proceed, you will need to meet with the local site manager where you would like to teach (Mr. Huber will be glad to help with introductions) for the following:
- Set up a time to observe a session as a Coach's Assistant (Job Shadowing) for at least one full course. This can occur over multiple classes but we want you to see the workings of the course from the instructor's perspective including both classroom and range time. Please use this time to determine if this is what you would like to do including the physical and teaching aspects of the course.
- Interview with the site manager to make sure things are a good fit for both you and the site. At this point the site manager will send in a recommendation if all parties are in agreement to proceed.
- The last step is a new Rider Coach Prep (RCP) course to earn your MSF certification. To register for this I will need a copy of your 5yr driving record near the time of signup which can be emailed to Mr. Huber.
- The RCP start with a pre-course assignment and knowledge test (This is where the job shadowing really helps). It ends with either a 3 weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) or 1 week (Mon - Sun) session culminating with you teaching actual students during the last 3 days.
- Upon successful completion of the RCP you will have earned your MSF certification and then eligible to teach here in KY.
