How do we identify and combat online harassment, especially when personal and professional boundaries are blurred? When working online from the safety of our homes, what oppressive forces from the outside world are acting upon us?

With support from the 25 x 25 Initiative by India Foundation for the Arts and inspired by the interactive elements of Forum Theatre, Rang Karwan has created a video story that captures the dilemmas faced by women who are plugged in - working and existing with the world online. We invite anyone who identifies as a woman or organizations who work with women in the workplace, gender sensitization and education, violence against women, cybercrime, harassment or their intersections to be our participatory audience or ‘Digital Spect-actors.’ This project is India specific.

As our Digital Spect-actors, you will view short video scenes of our story and participate in an anonymous survey that would help script the succeeding scenes.

How would this work?
- Over the months of December and January we will email you four 4 minute video clips. These video clips capture our protagonist facing the dilemma described above.
- Along with this video clip you will receive an anonymous survey with questions that will ask you to guide or challenge our protagonist on what she can do next. This survey will not take longer than 5 minutes for you to complete.
- You will have a window of 3 days to view the video and submit your survey answers. The answers emerging from the survey will allow us to script the actions of the succeeding scene which you will receive in the following weeks.

Schedule:
Beginning of December you will receive: Video #1 and Survey #1
Middle of December you will receive: Video #2 and Survey #2
Beginning of January you will receive: Video #3 and Survey #3
Middle of January you will receive: Video #4 and Survey #4

The final film, which will be released in February will be a compilation of all four scenes and snippets of the survey answers that helped us script them. You and your organization will in turn be able to circulate and share this film if you so wish on your social media platforms. In this manner, your active participation in the survey will help us build a repository of possible action steps or questions that women can consider the next time they encounter such a dilemma.
