Six sessions to explore the rich interconnection between music and spirituality through the ages. We will listen together to a wide selection of music from different eras and cultures, both live and recorded, both vocal and instrumental. There will be the opportunity to join in with some simple chant. Does it matter as we listen how rooted we are in a particular culture or belief system? We will have a chance to explore how we experience and respond to it. Can music evoke something awe-inspiring and numinous that takes us beyond ourselves, or deeper into ourselves?

All welcome – no musical knowledge or religious beliefs needed to participate – just a healthy curiosity and open ears.

The course is presented and facilitated by Matthew Heyse-Moore, a Stroud-based musician, teacher and composer who is passionate to share his love of music and spirituality. He has been leading regular weekly groups to support people to deepen into music since 2009.

Dates: Mondays 13th and 27th January, 10th and 24th February, 9th and 23rd March 2020
1pm until 3pm including tea break

Cost: £105 for the whole course (£95 early bird if booked and paid by Monday 16th December 2019) There's a booking fee if booked through Eventbrite

Taster option - book the 13th January session for £20 as a taster. If you decide you wish to come to future sessions, a balance of £85 would be payable for the remainder of the course.

Cancellation policy

If the whole course is cancelled, you will receive a full refund. If a single session is cancelled (e.g. due to me being ill) I will notify you by phone or email, and offer to make up the session. If you would like to cancel your booking, you will receive a full refund if cancelled by 16th December 2019, and a 75% refund if cancelled between 17th December and 31st December 2019. From 1st January 2020, refunds will not be possible.
