UC Merced Hmong Student Association's 2021 Educational Conference Mentee Application
Welcome to the UC Merced Hmong Student Association's 2021 Educational Conference Mentee Application!

This year's conference will be a one day event on January 29th, 2022 starting from 10am - 6:30pm.

This year, our conference's theme is on "Empower." With this conference, we hope to empower the youth to take initiative while embracing their own unique individuality and in doing so, empower others to do the same as well. We will provide several educational workshops and opportunities for you to learn and grow as a youth while getting a head start in planning for your budding futures.

As we are still currently in a pandemic and since our conference will be held when everyone is returning from the holidays, we will be requiring for mentees and other attendees to send in a 72 hour COVID19 negative test prior to the day of the event. We will also be practicing social distancing and managing sanitation at all times throughout the event to secure everyone's safety.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide transportation this year due to the pandemic. However, we are opening our conference to allow a maximum of only two parent(s)/legal guardian(s) to attend this event in hopes of lessening students' worries on transportation. Parent(s)/legal guardian(s) must also provide a negative COVID19 test as well.

We hope that you understand that we must take proper precautions according to the CDC's and UC Merced's COVID-19 regulations in order to ensure safety for all attendees. We are ecstatic that you are interested in joining our in person conference this year!

If you have any questions and/or concerns, you may contact two of our board members: Solomon Yang (syang95@ucmerced.edu) and Annie Lee (alee419@ucmerced.edu) or you can email our organization's email: hmongsa@ucmerced.edu

Hmong American Experience Project
This year Hmong Student Association's goal is to explore a variety of majors to use that knowledge for higher education. To fulfill this vision, the Hmong American Experience Project is mandatory for all participants.

The purpose of this project is for you to be able to reflect on your experiences as a Hmong American and what empowers you as an individual. In this conference, there will be an explanation of each person’s journey to a higher education and where they intend to finish. This project will allow you a chance to share your experiences as well as learn about yourself and those around you within your groups. Whether you decide to write a narrative, make a poster, write a poem, sing, etc, this is your chance to tell us your story. We highly encourage you to challenge yourself and explore your creativity. If you have any questions, feel free to email and ask for clarifications. 3-5 mins.

If you are a non-Hmong applicant, you may apply the project according to your own cultural experiences.

There WILL be more specific information sent in a follow-up email when you are accepted.
Please check this box that you have read and understand what the Hmong American Experience Project requires. *
