Basic Camp Information:
The Sharon Robotics Teams will be hosting an Intermediate Robotics Camp on June 21st – 25th, 2021 at Case Avenue Elementary School in Sharon. Participants will have a week-long opportunity to program an EV3 Mindstorm Robot. Camp will focus on intermediate robot building and behaviors. Some prior knowledge of programming is needed to attend (prior knowledge can include private experience or attendance at a beginner robotics camp.) Intermediate lessons to be taught include sensor usage, line following, loop blocks, switch blocks, parallel beams, data wires, My Blocks, and much more! Students will also work with partners to solve mission challenges on a LEGO themed board. Students will have the opportunity to follow the engineering process to build and program a robot to complete missions throughout the week. All robots and materials will be provided.
Age:
Students must currently be in 5th through 8th grade to participate. Applicants can be from any surrounding school district.
Location:
Camp will be located in the Robotics Lab at Case Avenue Elementary School, 36 Case Avenue, Sharon. Participants are expected to arrive on-time and enter the exterior doors near the playground on Case Avenue. The playground doors will be used for students to enter and dismiss from camp. Students must have their own transportation to and from the camp on a daily basis.
Time:
Camp will run June 21st – 25th from 9:30AM-2PM. Lunch will be located in the school cafeteria from 12:00-12:30. On Friday, June 25th, parents/guardians (up to 2 for each participant) will be invited to learn about robotics from 1:00-2:00 PM with their child during a hands-on session at the camp. Reminders will be sent home about the parent session during the first/second day of camp.
Cost:
Tuition fee is $125 to attend the camp. Tuition is due within 15 days within being accepted into the camp. If payment is not received within 15 days, acceptance to the camp will be revoked. Cash or check is acceptable. Checks are to be made payable to the “Sharon Robotics Boosters”. A camp t-shirt will be provided as part of the tuition cost.
Lunch:
Students are able to pack a lunch or may receive a free lunch from the summer lunch program.
Camp Curriculum:

COVID-19 Precautions:
Class size has been limited to 14 students max. All participants will be required to wear masks while at camp. In addition, students will frequently wash hands and all equipment will be thoroughly cleaned after each daily session.
Instructor:
The camp will be taught by Mr. Tomko, a sixth-grade teacher and robotics coach, and members from the Sharon Robotics Teams. Members from the robotics teams will include students from 7th-12th grades who have experience/ knowledge in programming/robotics.
Deadline to Apply:
Applications will be accepted until June 4th, 2021. However, please be aware, this camp fills quickly. Students will be accepted to the camp on a first come, first serve basis – as there are 14 spots available. Each student will be placed on the camp roster upon submission of a completed application. If the camp fills to capacity, a wait list will be used for interested participants. Students who submit an application will be notified of acceptance status or wait list status within 24 hours of application being received.
