SCAC Player Evaluation Form
SCAC players with their parents will use this self-reflective evaluation form to analyze player development through the season. Parents are encouraged to discuss goals to help their child improve, and as a challenge for their child. Coaches will review the form and schedule a short meeting with player and parent before or after practice to go over the form and give their input.

Note: This form is meant to be conversational and constructive to your player's development and not an opportunity to discourage the player.

Dribbling/Ball control. A player’s ability to move the ball quickly, with complete control, combining change of direction, speed, and feints (deceptive moves). Uses both feet (inside and outside) effectively while under pressure. Composed manner, shielding and seldom losing possession.

Passing. To accurately and concisely pass the ball at the correct pace to a teammate using inside the non-passing foot to aim to target. Proper passing/receiving technique, passes to feet and to space, on the ground and lofted. Uses both feet and all parts of the foot.

Receiving/First Touch. Shows (Finds proper space) for the ball and receives cleanly. Is able to use either foot to trap the ball. Uses their body effectively to trap air balls. Does not wait for the ball; runs to receive it.

Shooting/Crossing/Striking. The ability to strike on-goal with a variety of techniques from differing ranges and angles, with composure. Uses laces for power and inside for placement shots.

Speed/First to Ball. The ability to accomplish techniques quickly with efficient and fast movements in all areas on the field. Overall speed with the ball. Overall speed without the ball. Speed, quickness, reaction time. Transitions fast from defending to attacking and vice-versa.

Fitness. Overall endurance, ability to play entire match. Athletic abilities with respect to running, quick change of pace and direction (agility), leaping, and strength (including aggression).

Defensive Technique. Understands transition to defense. Demonstrates ability to contain attackers and knows when to challenge and when to delay (get compact). Wins the ball under control (not just clearing). Some level of defensive support (supporting while others defend).

Game Sense. How well the player understands the tactical side of the game. Player’s understanding of attacking and defending principles, and rules of the game (Awareness of referee calls). Aware of situational play (I.E. What do we do when the opponent has a goal kick, what to do when we have a goal kick).

Positioning/Spatial. A player’s ability to read the game as it develops and to position themselves in the most advantageous area from which to support their team effectively. (Can i get in between the ball and my goal when my team loses the ball quickly/ I will go to the ball because i know i am the closest/ I will support the attack because i know i am the closest to my teammate in possession). Understands the positions and format the team is playing with and without the ball and Adjusts dynamically and accordingly.

Commitment to Game. Shows up for practices/games, listens, makes progress, shows good sportsmanship and applies lessons. Shows a desire to play soccer for the love of the game. Focused at games and practices. Eager to learn. Always makes best effort.
