2024 Title II-A State Use of Funds Survey
For the 2023-2024 school year, the United States Department of Education (USED) has awarded grants to states under Title II of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). These funds may be used by states and local school districts for the preparing, training, and recruiting of high-quality teachers, principals, and other school leaders.  Wyoming received $10,296,071.50 in Title II funds this year, of which the majority was sub-granted to local school districts. Title II allows a set aside of funds for state-level activities, not to exceed 4% of the total grant, to further augment the professional development initiatives of local school districts.

The purpose of Title II funding is to:

1) increase student achievement consistent with the challenging State academic standards;

2) improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders;

3) increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools; and

4) provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.

This survey includes Title II-A allowable activities from the ESEA law. Your participation will help guide decision-making about which activities the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) may choose to coordinate and deliver.  If you don’t see an activity for which you see a need listed, please enter it in the comments at the end; if you’re not sure if it’s an allowable use of funds, contact the program manager.

The survey is conducted along with annual evaluation surveys to determine the effectiveness of the professional development provided and to ensure that the activities are ongoing, sustainable, and showing an impact on student achievement. Conducting the Title II-A needs assessment survey every three years will allow sufficient time for research, development, and influence on student achievement to be assessed. The annual evaluations track effectiveness of the professional development for educators and its impact on student achievement.

For more information, please contact Mary Bravo, WDE Title II-A Program Manager, at mary.bravo@wyo.gov or (307) 777-8739.

This survey will close on May 10, 2024.

Please note that activities supported by state-level Title II-A funds are contingent upon the continued funding of the program by the federal government.
