Description:
Presented by a museum educator at The de Young Museum in partnership with The San Francisco Public Library, "Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving" exhibits belongings and artworks by the beloved Mexican Painter, Frida Kahlo. This Latinx Heritage Month, join BBBSBA in a livestream of the event and dialogue with your Little/Big and other matches on the call using the Zoom chat box.
"A de Young museum educator will discuss and give a visual presentation on the current Frida Kahlo exhibit.
Frida Kahlo returns to San Francisco 90 years after her first visit to the city, in an exhibition examining how politics, gender, trauma, sexuality, and national identity influenced her diverse modes of creativity. The exhibition paints an intimate portrait of the artist through a trove of personal items which came to light in her lifelong home in Mexico City, decades after her passing. The items, including photographs, Kahlo’s vibrant Tehuana costumes, jewelry, and personalized orthopedic braces from the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City, will be on view along with paintings and drawings that span Kahlo’s entire career " - SFPL
