Introduction

Welcome and thank you for participating in this mass observation study. I am hoping to construct a Community Education Imaginary out of many responses to a single question. I will also ask you a little bit about yourself so that I can look for patterns amongst the responses. Finally I will take steps to ensure you are absolutely crystal clear about how I'm going to use the information you give me.

This research is for the PhD I'm doing with The University of Huddersfield and it has received full ethical approval. As well as the Imaginary, I am attempting to re-theorise community education in England, for the here and now.

You are free to answer YES or NO, however if you answer NO to any of the questions, any further responses will be discounted.

The Mass Observation Question

The Bowerbird collecting blue shiny things

Here in blue is the Bowerbird (with the female bowerbird behind, believe me she has all the power).

He builds a beautiful bower, rather like this Imaginary, and he decorates it with blue shiny things - actually the bottle tops and plastic straws which are the detritus of human life, and also sometimes sapphires. My role once the survey results are in at the end of July 2019 is to hop about in everyone's contributions, selecting the blue shiny things with which to decorate our collective Community Education (re-imagined) Bower.
