This scholarship has been established
to provide scholarships to adults needing a “second chance” to pursue a post
secondary education with the goal of attaining an associate’s degree, their
first bachelor’s degree or a certificate from a vocational or technical school.
This scholarship is open to single parents wishing to return to or start a post
secondary program, individuals who have returned to the community after serving
prison time, individuals returning to the community after completing a
rehabilitation program, and others who have faced obstacles that have
interfered with their ability to further their education beyond high school.
This scholarship is funded by
Senior Pastor Terry W. Brooks and in honor of the late Dr. Cato Brooks, Jr.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:
a. Must be a current and active member of Bayview Baptist Church
b. Must have been a member of Bayview Baptist Church for at least 18 months from the time of application deadline.
c. Must have graduated from high school
d. Must plan to enroll in an institution of higher learning (community or 4-year college or university) or a certificate program no later than September 2024. On-campus or online programs are acceptable
e. Previous recipients are not eligible
f. Must reside in San Diego County and meet membership requirements
Please provide the following with your submitted application:1.
High School or College transcript(s). Official transcript is preferred. However, unofficial transcript is accepted with visible school watermark. Official transcript may be submitted from the school via email (scholarship@bayviewbc.org) or mailed (6134 Pastor Timothy J Winters St. San Diego, CA 92114) Attn: Bayview Scholarship Ministry. Unofficial transcript may be attached to this application.

Two Letters of Recommendation submitted by the recommender via email (scholarship@bayviewbc.org) or mail (6134 Pastor Timothy J Winters St. San Diego, CA 92114) Attn: Bayview Scholarship Ministry. Letters may be from a person of your choice. Letters must be typed, signed, dated before the deadline. No more than three letters of recommendation will be accepted. Letters from family members/relatives are not acceptable.
Application Guidelines:
Completed applications must be submitted by the deadline. Scholarship recipients are announced in June. In the event a recipient fails to present documentation of full-time enrollment in classes for Fall of 2024, the scholarship will be voided.
Scholarship awards will range from $500 to $1,000 and will be available upon submission of proof of enrollment.
The committee's recommendation will be submitted to Pastor Brooks for final review and approval.
Completed applications must be submitted by the deadline of Friday, April 26, 2024.
