Gwangju FC will continue to work with coach Lee Jeong-hyo, who wrote a new history for the club, for a long time.

Gwangju announced on the 13th, “We have signed the longest contract since its founding, agreeing to accompany coach Lee Jeong-hyo until 2027.”

Coach Lee Jeong-hyo was appointed as the 7th coach of Gwangju in December 2021 and caused a sensation by winning the K-League 2 championship in 2022. In the 2023 K-League 1, he broke everyone's expectations and finished 3rd in the league, the best record in the club's history. He was recognized for his leadership by being the first to advance to the Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE).

Coach Lee Jeong-hyo also won the Coach of the Month Award twice in April and September 2022, the Best Coach of the K League 2 Award, and the Coach of the Month Award in June 2023.

CEO Noh Dong-il said, “In order for Gwangju to rebuild as a prestigious club, we prioritized and implemented a long-term contract for the coach that has nothing to do with performance. “At the same time, our next goal is to enable our youth players to also apply the tactics of the professional team so that they can be connected,” he said. “This establishes the club’s philosophy.”
