Governor Candidate Application Form
As a skills-based Board, we welcome applications from highly-skilled candidates who collectively will reflect the diversity of Canadian society and our students. If you are interested in submitting an application for the Board of Governors to be considered for our evergreen list for current or future vacancies, please complete this form.

This form is meant to capture a listing of skills and experience for candidates to be considered for Board membership. To properly fill out this form, you'll need to have the following details ready for submission: addresses, contact information, and current occupation. Furthermore, you'll be asked to rate your skills and experience related to specific competencies and areas of expertise. Additionally, there are sections to outline your motivations,  experience with Algoma University, and your community connections. Lastly, there is a voluntary self-identification section to better understand Board diversity based on lived experience.

Commitment to Active Participation
Membership on the the Board of Governors requires Governors to have the desire to serve,  as well as the willingness and ability to commit the time and effort required for preparation and active participation. 
  • Board Meetings - 6-8 per cycle (typically last Thursday of the month Sept - June, 4:30pm - 8pm)
  • Board Retreats - 2 per cycle (typically Fall and Winter, with Friday evening and Saturday sessions)
  • Committee Meetings - serving on at least one committee that meets 4-8 times per cycle, typically 2-3 weeks in advance of Board meetings (12pm - 1:30pm)
  • Attendance at other university related events and activities as requested
NOTE: Meetings are mostly held on the Sault Ste. Marie campus with options to join remotely.

Upon completion of this form, candidates must also submit a current Resume or C.V. to the Office of the Secretariat via email at secretariat@algomau.ca.
