Minnesota Earth & Space Science Standards Professional Development Needs Survey
Hello Potential Teachers of Earth and Space Science Standards,

As you likely already know, the 2019 edition of the MN Science Standards and recommendations for restructuring the delivery of some science content are currently on their way to approval.

The changes are pretty broad, here is a brief recap:

1) High School Physical Science standards are moving to 8th grade

2) Earth and Space Science (ESS) high school standards are expanded to the equivalency of one full year and the middle school standards are shifted from 8th to 6th grade;

3) finally, the 2019 standards are built on the core concept of 3-dimensional learning so our students can experience a more complete, stronger K-12 science education in Minnesota!

Of course, the success of the new standards is predicated on you - the provider of K-12 science education in Minnesota.  New standards and possibly new student demographics will likely pose a challenge for some of us.  That's where we come in.  We are ESS pedagogy and content teachers, and we want to help you prepare for teaching the new ESS standards by designing professional learning opportunities.  In an effort to ease the transition to the new ESS standards, as well as possible changes to the grades/levels you may be teaching, we want to know what you need... Workshops?  Bootcamps?  Credit-earning college coursework?  (We're thinking of a reverse Field of Dreams logic: If you come, we will build it!)

Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey so we can develop and implement quality ESS professional development to meet your needs.  WE NEED YOUR INPUT!!!

The survey will be open through Nov 20, 2019.

Thanks!
