From 1st January 2024, The Springfield Centre will be moving to a membership-only model. Please read through this information carefully to ensure you have all the information you need.
Why have we moved to memberships?
The Springfield Centre is an independent charity that runs largely on the support of our incredible volunteers and trustees, alongside a team of paid staff. Recently, the centre has faced damage by some of the people who use it. It is unsustainable for us to keep fixing this as it is taking vital resources away from other sessions that we can provide. By moving to a model where young people have to be members of the centre, they will also be agreeing to ensure that they treat staff and the centre with respect or their membership will be revoked. We are making this change to ensure that every young person who comes to the centre is safe and enjoys their time with us. Introducing memberships will also allow us to enhance the work that we do with young people, allowing us to invest in new opportunities. A significant amount of the funding we receive relies on the number of young people we can reach, and some of the behaviour occurring within the centre is meaning that other young people no longer wish to attend. To ensure that we can continue to provide the services we do, we need to make these changes.
What are the benefits to memberships?
By being a member of The Springfield Centre, young people will be entitled to come to the different sessions we have on offer here. By paying an annual membership fee, young people will then be entitled to:
Our monthly Girls and Boys Groups for free
Our multisports sessions for £1 per week
The Thursday Youth Clubs run by Bradford Youth Service
The option to book onto our other sessions for additional cost (these will be outlined later in this letter).
Access to support from professional youth workers and support staff and the potential for young people to progress onto volunteering and paid roles in the future.
Training opportunities for young people to develop skills in the trades, art, cooking, sports and a range of other industries.
What do I need to do to sign my young person up for a membership?
For your young person to be a member of the Springfield Centre, you must do the following:
Complete the application form here
Your young person must then fill in the section for them, having read the terms of their membership. Please make sure they understand that their refusal to follow any of the boundaries outlined here may result in their membership being revoked.
Pop into the Springfield Centre to pay the membership fee either in cash or on card. If you have any questions, we’ll be holding a membership drop-in for parents on Wednesday 3rd January between 5-7pm.
What about if I can’t afford the annual membership fee?
If you can’t afford to pay the annual membership fee, email leonie.hudson@thespringfieldcentre.co.uk or call us on 07745518026. We may be able to offer reduced or funded places, but this will be done on a case-by-case basis.
